Lake
Winnibigoshish is also referred to as Lake Winnie and
is one of the best fishing lakes in Minnesota. In late
spring and early summer fishing can be great along the
flats and The Gap located on the far northeast shore
of the lake near Cut Foot Sioux Lake. A substantial
portion of the Walleye in Lake Winnibigoshish migrate
from the section around Cut Foot Sioux Lake called "The
Gap" and along the north shore, down around the
east side and on up to Bena Bar. This is a large area
that includes the Big Bend, Center Bar, Big Muskie,
and the Little Muskie regions. A productive area on
Lake Winnibigoshish in early June is Big Bend and you
can often find some very large and hungry fish. Follow
the schools along the High Banks area a couple of weeks
after opener into the first week of June. Lake Winnibigoshish
has an average depth of 16 feet, with a maximum depth
of 70 feet.
