Lake
Superior is the world's second largest lake, and the
world's largest freshwater lake. With a surface
area of 31,700 square miles, Lake Superior contains
as much water as all the other Great Lakes combined.
Lake Superior features many scenic areas including:
The Apostle Islands, Isle Royale National Park, Lake
Superior Provincial Park, Grand Island National Recreation
Area and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Lake
Superior is also known for great Salmon and Trout fishing.
Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon and Pink Salmon are also
abundant in Lake Superior. Water flows into Lake
Superior from over 300 small rivers and streams providing
great fishing for shore anglers. Fishing on the
St. Mary's river for Salmon is usually excellent in
the fall. Trout fishing on Lake Superior is also
strong for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Steelhead Trout
and Lake Trout.
